COMMITTEES AND PROGRAMS

ADMINISTRATIVE

PUBLIC INFORMATION RESOURCES
Its purpose is to set up the Foundation's administrative documents in a given editorial style. The committee also oversees the timely updating of its web site and Press Kits so as to present information about the Foundation that is current, even handed and easy to read.

MARKETING
Works with the Executive Director to develop a budget and a marketing plan that will include - but is not be limited to - advertising, publicity, public relations, sales and fund raising for the Foundation. Develop the means to find funding sources and to report results.

MEMBERSHIP
Its primary purpose is to promote and expand Foundation membership. It recommends new layers of membership if and when it becomes advisable.

STANDARD OPERATIONS & PROCEDURES
This committee gathers information from other committee chairpersons for the purpose of documenting and maintaining an SOP manual of the Basin Wide Foundation's operating methods and procedures.

PERSONNEL
Recruits the Executive Director and approves the Foundation's personnel policies. Conducts an annual performance review of the Executive Director and recommends salary and benefits adjustments to the Board for approval.

POLICY AND REGULATIONS
Prepares and maintains a manual of Board practices. It periodically reviews the Foundation's Fiduciary Manual, Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws and submits required changes to the Board of Directors. It monitors Foundation activities and policies to insure policy compliance.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATION
Maintains an ongoing awareness of Foundation projects and activities and the manpower requirements needed to support them. It periodically reviews the current membership roster to help determine which of the Foundation's current members might best serve on its committees.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

BREAKFAST PROGRAM
Prepares agendas for each of the monthly Basin Wide Foundation breakfast meetings which entails arranging for speakers from non-profit agencies and factoring in the presentation of Awards of Excellence and Forums as prepared for by their respective committees.

NON-PROFIT DIRECTORY
Compiles data for, publishes and distributes the annual Directory of Non-profit, Community Service organizations. The Directory's primary purpose is to serve as a means for non-profit agencies to economically 'advertise' themselves to the community at large.

YOUTH SPORTS PARK COALITION
Raises funds for the continuing development and maintenance of Brehm Sports Park located adjacent to the Boys and Girls Club in Yucca Valley.

AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE
Serves to recognize the efforts of non-profit, community service and government agencies that have made a significant contribution to improving the lifestyles of various groups of residents throughout the Morongo Basin. Awards are made at monthly breakfast meetings.

FORUM PROGRAM
The Forums are designed to provide residents of the Morongo Basin with first hand infor-mation about the purpose, function, history and future plans of public service agencies and organizations serving the community. Forums are held at monthly breakfast meetings.

DREAMS FOR KIDS
DFC provides social and cultural outlets for children under the care of Child Protective Services. The committee funds dance lessons, club memberships and other activities that contribute to each individual's personal development and self esteem.

DESERT WOMENS' CHARITIES
This project had its beginnings in helping acquire a specially trained dog for a youngster suffering from a rare form of diabetes. Having done successfully done it continues its efforts to find other children with the same medical need.

SKY'S THE LIMIT
This purpose of this project is to design and build a state-of-the-art celestial observatory just outside the Twentynine Palms entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. The facility is to become a major educational and tourist attraction in the Morongo Basin.

PASS Eco-Summit
The Foundation partners with Joshua Tree National Park and Copper Mountain College to bring Basin residents information from both industry and academia about alternative sources of energy and everyday energy conservation methodologies.

EXPLORATORY

TAKE THE PLUNGE
Members are exploring the possibility of working with the Town of Yucca Valley to establish a public swimming pool in the area.

CULTURAL FACILITIES
Working with the Town of Yucca Valley on long term planning of an Arts, Entertainment and Educational complex that showcases and promotes the Morongo Basin's rich resource of musicians, artists, performers and teachers.
